Observation Project
NFSC 360: Nutrition throughout the Life Cycle
Skill Area: Community Nutrition and Education
Assignment Title: Observation Project
What I learned: In this assignment I learned the
proper way to observe an infant and a child eat. I learned to pay attention to
the relationship between parent and child, report serving sizes, and the
development of the child.
Reflection to assignment: Completing this assignment helped me
gain a new perspective on how other parents interact with their children during
meal time. The relationship between a parent and child is very importing to
ensure that meal time is a pleasant experience. It is also important that the
child learns how to enjoy food and eat proper serving sizes. Furthermore, it is
important to understand the different stages of infant/child growth and how it
relates to their motor skills and ability to eat certain foods.
Relevance to the profession: Community nutrition revolves around
working directly with people. We need to have good communication skills with
those we work with. It is also important to understand the family dynamics in
order to give proper nutrition education and counseling to them.
